The brakes were well and truly put on Vanessa Hudgens's bicycle ride home from the gym today.

After an arduous workout in Toluca Lake, California, the 22-year-old actress came a cropper after the chain came off her bike.

Luckily, a member of the assembled paparazzi was only too happy to assist the damsel in distress and set about fixing it.

Vanessa was seen picking up her belongings after almost taking a tumble off her wheels.

She was clad in a pink hoodie, black leggings and cap, completing her look with a pair of shades and flip flops - perhaps not the most sensible footwear to cycle in.

Earlier she arrived to the gym, teaming her ensemble with a grey cardigan.

Vanessa was recently pictured getting cosy with her new beau, actor Austin Butler.
The new couple struggled to keep their hands off each other as they supped milkshakes of the morning last weekend.

But a source close to the actress told Hollywoodlife.com: 'It isn’t a serious thing at all. She’s having fun hooking up with him but no official relationship has flourished yet.
